Westrail/ARG XV Wagons
The XV class were built in late 1986, to supplement the large XW class built from 1972 to 1981. Only 30 were built, of all-steel construction like the XW class. In 1987, the improved XU class followed, the first using aluminium with its lighter weight and better gross to net ratio. The XV class have been mainly used from Avon and Albany. All were stored in September 2012 as a result of the CBH contract loss. They were sold for scrap in June 2014.
